1st Birthday!

Happy birthday sunshine!
Today is Vaughn's birthday, I can't believe this time last year I was holding him in my arms for the first time, wondering what I would do with him and how I could ever care for him and give him all he needed from me. And here I am a year later realizing that it's not about what I could do for him but what he has been for me... for us! Vaughn has brought so much joy and laughter, along with some tears and frustration... I find myself looking back at this past year and on one hand thinking " wow! I survived" and on the other "that really wasn't that bad!"
See the thing that you don't realize or even understand until you are a mother, is that no matter how frustrated, tired, helpless and in pain you may be as a result of your little one. It really only takes one hug, one smile, one giggle or one kiss, and everything else not only fades away, but it's totally removed from your memory. I mean of course you remember it hurt, or that you were frustrated, but you really don't remember how bad you felt in that particular instance.
And I know, if you haven't had children you are probably thinking... SURE!! that's what they all say.... but seriously it's true! Because I am convinced that if we actually remember vividly all those feeling... not to mention the pain of childbirth... There would be only one child per family!

Any way, enough on my ranting, back to Vaughn and his birthday. We celebrated on Saturday morning, we had a nice little brunch, with family and a few friends. Vaughn received lots of toys from everyone... we had a piƱata for the older kids and cup cakes, and just a fun time. He is just such a happy boy (most of the time) he was so excited that he didn't even want to take a nap after everyone left.. Of course, the good mother that I am, I made sure he had one regardless!
Here are some pictures of the party. Enjoy!
