Vaughn and Hailey at Beaver's Bend, OK

The week before Christmas we went "camping"... not really, more like rented a cabin at Beaver's Bend, OK with the Crawfords and Patrick.. We stayed in a beautiful cabin, with a hot tub, which was perfect considering it was pretty cold. It was a nice relaxing weekend with good friends, and of course I took a ton of pictures of the Vaughn and Hailey.

Here are some pictures of the cabin we stayed in... as some of you may know, I LOVE!!! the whole contemporary style homes and decor, so you can see why I thought this cabin was just fabulous!

The kids... isn't Hailey just a cutie! I had to work hard to get a few shots of these two, because they were both too busy doing their own thing, but they had fun and were nice and worn out for a good long nap that afternoon! ;)

This a cute little bridge we found in our short walk

Finally there were the bird cages at the State Park Offices...

A beautiful Eagle...

and a Hawk.

Thanks Michelle, for planning such a fun and relaxing weekend!

Rock Star

Quick post, I just had to share this because it just made me laugh!

Today while I was busy taking down the Christmas tree, and putting away all the decorations, Vaughn decided he wanted to "play" guitar hero. Of course he cannot yet play, but he thinks he can, so he grabbed the guitar and.... well the pictures describe it the best... what do you think, Rock Star in the making??

Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday...

.. don't worry uncle Beto, your guitar was not harmed in the process!

Christmas Weekend!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, we had a great one. I must confess that in November, when I thought about Christmas being around the corner, I was not very excited and was rather dreading it. Christmas has just not been the same without Mom, not only was this her favorite time of the year and made it the most exciting, but also her birthday was this time of year, and her passing was just shortly after New Year, so it has just left a bitter sweet taste to the holidays.
This year however was a lot of fun. While I do still miss my mom terribly and I still had my usual breakdown on Christmas Eve, there was something special about this Christmas. I realized when I started to pull out the tree, that it was my opportunity now, to create great memories for Vaughn, and any future children, and so we did!
The whole process was fun, decorating the tree, shopping for Vaughn was especially fun, and making the tamales, opening presents, etc.

We started our Christmas festivities by opening a couple of gifts (just Aaron, Vaughn and I) on Christmas Eve morning.
We then made the tamales for that evening, unfortunately I totally didn't think to take pictures of that. Then Beto, Lindsey and Dad came by for some tamales and gift exchanging with them. After that we went to the candle light service at our church, and afterward pozole with the West'.

Late on Christmas Eve we crashed at the Massa's (In-laws) to be there Christmas morning, for more food and gifts.

Oh, and finally joined up with Beto, Linds, and Dad for a movie Christmas Evening.

Merry Christmas

Wow, it's been a busy month, and I have not had a chance to go through the rest of our Mexico pictures to post, I'll have to do it later on. I did however want to post some pictures from our Christmas decorating time, and also take the time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Vaughn and I spent the Monday and Tuesday, after we came home from Mexico, making the ornaments and then decorating the tree. The last few years (since Aaron and I got married) we had a bunch of cheap and very plain christmas ornaments. This year I wanted something different and something I wasn't just going to kinda like, but really love. I knew I couldn't go to the store and drop a couple hundred on decorations, so I had to make them my self... I think my total cost was under $30.

I decided on an "edible" Christmas tree... "edible" in the sense that all the ornaments are a form of consumable item, however, we are not actually going to eat any of it since some of it has been sprayed with glitter and others will be stale and nasty, but any way, you get the point. So here are the pictures.
